Never misunderestimate the power of digital photo-editing.
In 2008, former Chest-Bumper-in-Chief George W. Bush
applauded a new Air Force Academy graduate with a sternal
salute—captured mid-air by photographer Charles Dharapak:
When user realtyrionlannister shared the image with Reddit’s Photoshop Battles community yesterday, redditors took the photo of Bush’s awkward aerial maneuver to new heights.
If you’re not familiar with Photoshop Battles, here’s how they work: A random photo is presented. Anybody in the community can participate. All you need to do is edit the image as you please and submit your work in the comments section.
Redditor munchboy pitted the President against a team of WWE
wrestlers, performing a diving fist drop as they quake with fear below:
“Can you smell what The Bush is—?” No, that doesn’t quite work, does it?
User GallowBoob saw the photo and was reminded of another
chest-bumping duo, frolicking outside their Tubbytronic Superdome under
the watchful eye of sunny Obama:
GallowBoob, a Photoshop Battle regular, also contributed this nightmarish image of the pair of pilots getting their real wings:
“A bump in the chest is worth Bush… as a bird?”
But the most emotional entry came from user Lmaoomp, who saw Bush’s
outstretched arms and knew exactly what to do with them: Put them on the
bow of the Titanic.
While this was the most emotional image of the bunch, redditors’ other Photoshop Battleships stayed afloat with healthy doses of creative concepts and careful editing. Check out the full thread for all the Photoshop weirdness.
And remember: Whether you’re near or far (in fact, wherever you are), we believe that the chest will—yes, the chest will—bump on.
